For a Greener Tomorrow!

Environmental conservation needs to be a people’s movement to be truly impactful. To ensure more and more people join hands to do their bit for the environment the Rotary District 3141 and the Tree Box initiative are celebrating the ‘Month of Million Trees’ by creating a mega man-made Forest on a 97-acre land. The campaign envisages to involve over 400 farmers and volunteers to plant a million native trees from 20th September to 20th October 2020 at village Pik, located in Wada, Palghar (Maharashtra).

The organisers plan to create a world record on day one of the campaign by planting 200,000 native variety trees on the barren grounds of Palghar.

Bollywood actor Juhi Chawla has also lend her support to the cause, as brand ambassador of the campaign. “I wish this initiative inspires more and more people. Let this world record of a mega man-made forest be just the beginning of many more. People can join this noble initiative by contributing online to plant a tree and the team will look after it for the next two years!  Let’s all do our bit to turn the planet greener. Clean air, clean water, and a greener environment is the best gift we can give to our children,” she said.

Harsh Vaidya, founder, the Tree Box Initiative said, “I have personally pledged to grow 1 crore trees in next 10 years and happy to have started with a big bang this year as two lakh trees in a day will be planted with the support of numerous individuals, making this unachievable feat possible.” He informed that next year during the 75th year of Indian independence they would like to grow one million trees in a month starting 15th August 2021.

People who can’t be present physically for this campaign, can show their support online by sponsoring a tree, which will be planted in the sponsor’s name.
